Wandora has support for extracting information from Flickr into a topic map using the Flickr online API. Three different extractors are currently provided for extracting information from a profile, a specific photo and a Flickr group. All the extractors can be found in the File > Extract menu.

Flickr authentication
Many of the Flickr API functions used in the extractors require you to authorize Wandora to access your information. When Wandora needs to call such a function, it will check if it already has sufficient permissions from a previous call, and if not, prompt you to commence authorization. Authorization involves following a URL generated by Wandora and following instructions on the flickr website. Authentication information is stored on a per-session basis, and will be cleared whenever Wandora is closed. The information can also be manually cleared via configuration of any of the Flickr extractors. You may also store the authentication information from the current session and re-enter it later.

To access the configuration dialog, ctrl-click one of the Flickr extractors in the File > Extract menu.
The Flickr authentication status window displays the username of the currently authenticated user, authentication data (token and frob) and the rights that the user has granted (as of this release, only the read permission level is used.) Clicking Clear information will remove the authentication information from memory and Validate new frob and token will attempt to validate a user-entered frob and token with the Flickr API. If the validation is successful, these will be used for the duration of the current session.

Note: clearing authentication information from Wandora does not clear it from Flickr itself.

Some of the API functions called during information extraction require read permissions. If authentication information is not stored in this session, Wandora will prompt you to authorize it to obtain the required information.

<br style="clear:both;"/>
Follow the URL in the text box in your web browser, log in and follow the instructions on the flickr website. Once you see the authorization complete screen (above) you can go back to Wandora and click Complete to proceed with the extraction.

Extractors
The primary mode of operation for the Flickr extractors is to choose a topic or a set of topics in the topic map and run an extractor on those topics, effectively expanding nodes as you go. The extractors always apply to the topics that are currently in context. The current context usually consists of the currently selected topics in the GUI.

Profile extractor
The main entry point for extracting data from Flickr is the profile extractor. The profile extractor gets a list of photos owned and marked as favorites by the profile owner. If no usernames are found, it will prompt you for a comma-delimited list of users to find information for.

Flickr group extractor
The group extractor gets a list of photos in the group's photo pool. If no suitable groups are found in context, a dialog is presented to the user, in which text search can be performed to look for groups in Flickr. Skeleton information for all of the groups in the list will be created in the topic map, and full information will be retrieved for the ones the user has selected.
2008-04-29
* Three Flickr extractors
** Flickr user profile extractor
** Flickr photo extractor
** Flickr group extractor
* RIS file format extractor
* VerbOcean file format extractor
* Layer stack implementation rewritten
** Enabling layer stacks within layer stacks!
* GML graph export
* GraphML export
* Enhanced Print feature

Documentation for new features follows shortly.

2008-03-14
* Enhanced Compare topic maps.
* Topic Map patch tool.

2008-03-04
* Wandora's license changed to GNU GPL!
* Source code distribution package available!
* Major refactoring! Base class path changed to org.wandora.
* New Compare topic maps tool introduced!
* Some minor bug fixes!

Wandora's topic map schema has also changed! Subject identifier base of schema topics is now http://www.wandora.org. It used to be http://www.wandora.net in previous Wandora releases! This change may cause problems while working with older Wandora projects as Wandora doesn't find Wandora class, Wandora language, and Wandora language name version topics. To fix the problem replace subject identifier base http://www.wandora.net to http://www.wandora.org in your old project.

2008-02-13
* Programmable Custom topic panel introduced!
* Fixes on OBO import
* Some bug fixes

2008-01-22
* OBO flat file import
* OBO flat file export (requires specific schema in topic map)
* OBO round trip tool for testing. Converts OBO to topic map and again back to OBO flat file format.
* Geo microformat extractor
* Adr microformat extractor
* HCalendar microformat extractor
* HCard microformat extractor
* HTML instance list extractor
* HTML superclass-subclass list extractor
* HTML definition list extractor
* HTML association table extractor
* Platonic solid graph generator

2008-01-15
Minor update
* Removed references to javax.swing.GroupLayout.

2007-11-05
* Enhanced Drag and Drop support
** Create topics and associations dragging text (base name) lists to Wandora
** Extractors accept partial HTML snippets dragged from WWW browser and dropped to Drag and Drop Extractor.
* Property Table Extractor
* Simple Text Document Extractor
* RSS 2.0 Extractor
* Bibtex extractor schema changed. Creates now more topics and associations instead of occurrences.
* Subject Locator preview for HTML pages
** Extract directly from HTML preview
** Create topic names and occurrences from HTML preview
* Subject identifier GUI enhanced in Topic Panels
* Some bug fixes

2007-10-17
*Shell scripts to launch the application on Linux and Unix systems including Mac.
*Some bug fixes on Linux-like systems.
*Bibtex extractor

2007-09-24
This version contains some minor bug fixes. For example:
* Topic map graph is not anymore drawn outside the topic panel.
* User can interrupt topic map and project save operations.
* Adding shortcut of a topic with multiple subject identifiers uses now fancier dialog.

2007-08-30
* Added Graph Topic Panel enabling graph visualizations of topic maps.
* Fixed minor bugs.

2007-07-31
* XTM export fixed. InstanceOf elements contain now only one topic reference.
* Menu structures have been updated.
* Opens Wandora project file or XTM topic map file given as a command line parameter.
* New layer operation doesn't automatically import minimal Wandora ontology.
* Fixed minor bugs.

2007-06-04
* New icons. More stylish look.
* New statistical tools to analyze topic maps: Layer connections, Topic map diameter, and Clustering coefficient.
* New tool category of Topic map generators including Random graph generator, Fully connected graph generator, Tree graph generator, and Linear list generator.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-05-22
* Added SOAP web api option for Piccolo published topic map. Api may be used to access topics and associations directly from Flash applications for example.
* Added new sample: Flash application using the SOAP api. Actionscript source classes are included.
* Added a set of Audioscrobber extractors enabling to convert Last.fm's XML feeds to topic maps.

2007-05-02
* Compiled and tested with Java 6.0.
* Added extractor. Extractor converts MediaWiki's XML exports to topic map.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-03-08
* Fixed HSQL database layer locking bug. Previous versions of Wandora locked HSQL database layer after layer creation blocking topic map access.
* Fixed Tool manager's tool scanner. Previous versions of Wandora did not found tool classes with class string in their classname.
* Added extractor. Extractor converts freedb database files to a topic map.
* Added FreeDB sample demonstrating Wandora's FreeDB extractor and simple modification layer used to merge typo-topics.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-02-27
* Fix: Now XTM export filters out all characters that may break the XML document. Previous version of Wandora exported base names, text datas, and variant names to the XTM document without changes and broke the file sometimes when you had used (usually extracted) exotic characters in topic elements.
* Generic SQL database import has been developed to allow you to select whether a table column is converted to a topic or an occurrence.

2007-02-09
* LTM import robustness improved.
* Added Copy all variant names tool.
* Added Remove all empty variant names tool.
* Added Remove variant name... tool.
* Fixed Lucene index builder.
* Speeding XTM import (Assuming the XTM topic map does not contain duplicate associations. I think next update will contain Paranoid XTM import forcing the removal of duplicate associations).
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-01-19
* Added SampleWebApp to samples. SampleWebApp shows how Wandora project is published as a WWW service with Apache Tomcat.
* Added DatabaseImport tool.
* Added project drag'n'dropped feature to Wandora's application window.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2006-12-15
* Fixed bug in Configure Topic Tree Types editor.
* Added Merge project feature.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2006-11-15
* SetClasspath.bat missed path settings for mstor/mstor.jar and activation.jar causing Email extractor to fail with MBOX email repositories. Fixed.
* Added Lucene index builder tool to exporters. With this tool you can build Lucene search index from any Wandora topic map. Current version of Wandora does not use search index and the tool is mainly for external usage.

2006-11-06
* Fixed schema association editor's bug causing creation of one player associations instead of multiple player associations in systems with multiple layers.
Import and Export
Wandora has been designed to enable easy aggregation of knowledge and features wide range of import and extract tools. Wandora is capable to export not just different topic map formats but also N3, HTML, and XML. Wandora's native file format is Wandora project (WPR) which is a collection of XTM topic maps and configuration file within a zip package. Managing of topic maps is easy as Wandora allows the user to copy and paste topics and associations using system clipboard.

Extractors
Wandora is great for information mashups. With Wandora you can easily mashup information from various sources. Extractors are specific Wandora tools used to extract topics and associations out of different file formats and sources. Wandora can extract data from MP3 and JPG files for example. To see what extractors your Wandora has installed see File > Extract. To start an extractor just select the extractor name in the menu or use drag and drop extractor. If you don't find the extractor in the menu use Tool manager to add the extractor into the menu.

Generators
Generators are special tools that generate topics and associations algorithmically. Generators help you to construct basic building blocks for your topic maps. Generators also serve as a nice test suite for Wandora and topic maps in general. Available generators are

* Random graph generator
* Fully connected graph generator
* Tree graph generator
* Linear list graph generator
* Finite group graph generator
* Platonic solid graph generator

Schema
Schema is a collection of specific topics and associations that Wandora uses to construct the user interface of association editor, occurrence editor and topic name panel. Schema eases many topic map operations such as association and occurrence construction. Schema also defines the language support of Wandora application.
* Schema to ease association and text data creation and modification
* How to add another variant name language
* How to add another variant name type

Layers
Wandora supports layered topic maps. Layered topic map contains one or more topic maps stacked into an ordered array. This separation of merged topic maps allows flexible management of topic maps and enables the birth of public knowledge repositories used as a component of other Wandora based knowledge bases.

Tools and tool manager
Almost every feature in Wandora is implemented with a tool. Tool packs certain Wandora functionality into a single software component. Wandora's user may customize the available tool set and even add third party tools to Wandora.
** Flickr group extractor
* RIS file format extractor
* VerbOcean file format extractor
* Layer stack implementation rewritten
** Enabling layer stacks within layer stacks!
* GML graph export
* GraphML export
* Enhanced Print feature

Documentation for new features follows shortly.

2008-03-14
* Enhanced Compare topic maps.
* Topic Map patch tool.

2008-03-04
* Wandora's license changed to GNU GPL!
* Source code distribution package available!
* Major refactoring! Base class path changed to org.wandora.
* New Compare topic maps tool introduced!
* Some minor bug fixes!

* HTML association table extractor
* Platonic solid graph generator

2008-01-15
Minor update
* Removed references to javax.swing.GroupLayout.

2007-11-05
* Enhanced Drag and Drop support
** Create topics and associations dragging text (base name) lists to Wandora
** Extractors accept partial HTML snippets dragged from WWW browser and dropped to Drag and Drop Extractor.
* Property Table Extractor
* Simple Text Document Extractor
* RSS 2.0 Extractor

* Fixed minor bugs.

2007-07-31
* XTM export fixed. InstanceOf elements contain now only one topic reference.
* Menu structures have been updated.
* Opens Wandora project file or XTM topic map file given as a command line parameter.
* New layer operation doesn't automatically import minimal Wandora ontology.
* Fixed minor bugs.

2007-06-04
* New icons. More stylish look.
* New statistical tools to analyze topic maps: Layer connections, Topic map diameter, and Clustering coefficient.
* New tool category of Topic map generators including Random graph generator, Fully connected graph generator, Tree graph generator, and Linear list generator.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-03-08
* Fixed HSQL database layer locking bug. Previous versions of Wandora locked HSQL database layer after layer creation blocking topic map access.
* Fixed Tool manager's tool scanner. Previous versions of Wandora did not found tool classes with class string in their classname.
* Added extractor. Extractor converts freedb database files to a topic map.
* Added FreeDB sample demonstrating Wandora's FreeDB extractor and simple modification layer used to merge typo-topics.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-02-09
* LTM import robustness improved.
* Added Copy all variant names tool.
* Added Remove all empty variant names tool.
* Added Remove variant name... tool.
* Fixed Lucene index builder.
* Speeding XTM import (Assuming the XTM topic map does not contain duplicate associations. I think next update will contain Paranoid XTM import forcing the removal of duplicate associations).
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2007-01-19
* Added SampleWebApp to samples. SampleWebApp shows how Wandora project is published as a WWW service with Apache Tomcat.
* Added DatabaseImport tool.
* Added project drag'n'dropped feature to Wandora's application window.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

2006-12-15
* Fixed bug in Configure Topic Tree Types editor.
* Added Merge project feature.
* Fixed some minor bugs.

Wandora has support for extracting information from Flickr into a topic map using the Flickr online API. Three different extractors are currently provided for extracting information from a profile, a specific photo and a Flickr group. All the extractors can be found in the File > Extract menu

Flickr authentication
Many of the Flickr API functions used in the extractors require you to authorize Wandora to access your information. When Wandora needs to call such a function, it will check if it already has sufficient permissions from a previous call, and if not, prompt the you to commence authorization. Authorization involves following a URL generated by Wandora following instructions on the flickr website.

<br style="clear:both;"/>
Follow the URL in the text box in your web browser, log in and follow the instructions on the flickr website.

The group extractor gets a list of photos in the group's photo pool.

Flickr photo information extractor
Many of the Flickr API functions used in the extractors require you to authorize Wandora to access your information. When Wandora needs to call such a function, it will check if it already has sufficient permissions from a previous call, and if not, prompt the you to commence authorization. Authorization involves following a URL generated by Wandora following instructions on the flickr website.

<br style="clear:both;"/>
To access the configuration dialog, ctrl-click one of the Flickr extractors in the File > Extract menu.

Note: clearing authentication information from Wandora does _not_ clear it from Flickr itself.
Profile extractor
The main entry point for extracting data from Flickr is the profile extractor. It can be found in the File > Extract menu.
The extractor will use any usernames it finds in the current context (selected topics.) If no usernames are found, it will prompt you for a comma-delimited list of users to find information for.
<br style="clear:both;"/>
Some of the API functions called during profile information extraction require read permissions. If authentication information is not stored in this session, Wandora will prompt you to authorize it to obtain the required information.

* Random graph generator
* Fully connected graph generator
* Tree graph generator
* Linear list graph generator
* Finite group graph generator
* Platonic solid graph generator

Schema
Schema is a collection of specific topics and associations that Wandora uses to construct the user interface of association editor, occurrence editor and topic name panel. Schema eases many topic map operations such as association and occurrence construction. Schema also defines the language support of Wandora application.
Layers
Wandora supports layered topic maps. Layered topic map contains one or more topic maps stacked into an ordered array. This separation of merged topic maps allows flexible management of topic maps and enables the birth of public knowledge repositories used as a component of other Wandora based knowledge bases.

* Random graph generator
* Fully connected graph generator
* Tree graph generator
* Linear list graph generator
* Finite group graph generator
* Platonic solid graph generator
