retrieving information from Finnish National Gallery

Hi,

I'm interested in retrieving search results from http://collection.fng.fi. Normally I would make a query and then use regex to parse the result HTML to get information on the Subject, Title and Artist but was hoping there was a better way to do it since I see the site is making a wandora request. Any information on how I could go directly to wandora.net and ideally get the information back in XML would be very helpful!

Interesting question? At the moment Finnish National Gallery provides no public web api to retrieve information from The Art Collections site (http://collection.fng.fi). I think the question is more political than technological. Although such api is available in Wandora, Finnish National Gallery tends to protect the information they gathered during decades and wish not to share the information too easily. Sharing the information would also raise difficult copyright issues. However, these are just my personal thoughts as I don't represent FNG's official opinion.

I'll point out your request to people at FNG and let's see if they have anything to add.
