Layers are topic maps and layer merge simply copies all topics and associations from source layer to target and removes the source, after successful copy.
Layer merge follows common topic merge rules. If two topics have genuine identifiers they stay separate over the merge. When topics share identifier they collapse into a single topic during the merge: A virtual topic merge turns into a real topic merge. Layer merge is irreversible and you should be careful not loosing important information in merge.
Two layers are merged in Wandora with
- Layers > Merge layers > Merge up...
- Layers > Merge layers > Merge down...
- Layers > Merge layers > Merge all...
- Layers > Merge layers > Merge visible...
You may find same tools in context menu of layers. Two first merges merge current layer with the layer above and below. Third tool merges all available layers while fourth tool variant merges just the visible layers.
