Wandora

Wandora is a general purpose information extraction, management, and publishing application based on Topic Maps and Java Swing. Wandora has graphical user interface, layered presentation of knowledge, several data storage options, huge collection of data extraction, import and export options, embedded server, and open plug-in architecture. Wandora is a FOSS application with GNU GPL license.

Wandora suits well for information mashups. Wandora is capable to extract and convert wide range of open data feeds to Topic Maps format (see image below). Beyond Topic Maps conversion this feature allows Wandora user to aggregate multidimensional information mashups where information from Flickr meets Geonames and Delicious, for example. Wandora's embedded HTTP server enables easy mashup publication. Addition to default HTML page service, Wandora user can easily set up a web service and publish Wandora content with CMSs such as Drupal and Joomla. Read more at documentation.

This site, WandoraWiki, is a home of Wandora software application and provides you an access point to the Wandora application and it's documentation. To contribute Topic Maps, Wandora Team has also converted several well known ontologies to Topic Maps format. These converted ontologies; WordNet, OpenCyc, Gene Ontology, Gellish, and Finnish General Upper Ontology (YSO) are available for download here in WandoraWiki. See right column, section Topic Maps.

Oct 4, 2010: Wandora workshop at TMRA'10 was a success. Workshop slides Converting information to Topic Maps using Wandora are available here.

Aug 19, 2010: Wandora Team has released a new version of Wandora application featuring MARCXML and Facebook Graph extractors. Wandora Firefox plugin has been updated and works now on Thunderbird 3.x also.

Aug 10, 2010: Wandora Team invites all Wandora users and people interested in Wandora to the Converting Information to Topic Maps with Wandora tutorial @ TMRA 2010. Registration is open till September 10, 2010. Meet you at Leipzig.

Aug 2, 2010: Wandora is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of TMRA 2010 conference. TMRA is the advanced scientific and industrial forum connecting the key players in the Topic Maps community. TMRA 2010 will be held in Leipzig, Germany, 29 September - 1 October 2010.

June 24, 2010: Wandora Team is heading to enjoy Finnish mid-summer holiday Juhannus and summer vacation. Happy mid-summer. We'll be back in office mid-July.

June 11, 2010: Wandora Team has started investigating Netbeans platform as the framework for Wandora application. Eventually, if investigation results are positive, this means that Wandora will be a Netbeans platform based application. As our focus is now on platform change, we release Wandora updates less often. Our intention is to blog about the platform project progress frequently at Wandora forum. You can also subscribe to the blog feed.
