Umbel extractors
Umbel is an upper ontology with 28000 interlinked concepts. The Umbel can be used to as a base of concept-based domain ontologies. The Umbel provides a web service API used to fetch concepts in machine readable format. The Umbel API is free to use and doesn't require registration nor API key. Wandora features several Umbel extractors that fetch concepts from Umbel API and convert received concepts into topic map structures such as topics and associations. Wandora's Umbel extractors locate under File > Extract > Topics menu. Featured extractors are

Search Umbel concepts
Search Umbel concepts takes a search word and returns a list of Umbel concepts. Using the list, the user can select which concepts she imports. Next screen captures view the user searching for library concepts.
Get Umbel concept
Get Umbel concept is used to fetch specific concepts. The user must address concepts with their identifiers. Get Umbel concept feature is useful when the topic map already contains Umbel concept topic and the user wishes to complete the concept topic with all information the Umbel can provide. Next screen captures continue the Search Umbel concepts example. The user finds the Umbel concept http://umbel.org/umbel/rc/PersonTypeByOccupation in her topic map. The concept has no broader-narrower nor subclass-superclass relations and the user want's to see if the Umbel can provide any such relations for the concept. The user starts Get Umbel concept while the concept is open in Traditional topic panel and picks topic's subject identifier (concept URI) by clicking the Get SIs button. After that, the user presses Extract button and Wandora connects the Umbel API and fetches all information related to the concept PersonTypeByOccupation. Indeed, the Umbel provides some concept relations for the PersonTypeByOccupation. For example, the results reveal that the concept MusicDirector is narrower than the PersonTypeByOccupation.
