Topic panels are used to view a topic in Wandora. Traditional topic panel is the default topic panel. Traditional topic panel is selected with a menu option View > Topic panels > Traditional topic panel. Traditional topic panel views all elements of a topic on a single page. This single page contains fields for topic identifiers, base name, variant names, classes, occurrences, associations and instances. Each field area is titled with elements type. For example, all instances of a topic locate in Instances box. If topic has no instances, the box is empty.

Base name, subject locator and variant name fields in Traditional topic panel are directly editable while all others are only selectable and indirectly editable. Indirectly editable means that user has to trigger context menu options or open special editor for the element in order to edit the topic element. For example, to edit an association, Wandora user has to select the association first by left mouse clicking the association row, and then right mouse click the selection and choose context menu option Modify association. In general, Traditional topic panel views classes, instances and associations using topic tables discussed more detailed in Working with topic tables chapter. Subject identifiers are viewed using a simple URI table while occurrences are string tables.

After selecting Traditional topic panel, user may hide any panel fields with View menu options. For example, user may hide occurrences by selecting menu option View > View occurrences. The eye icon in front of the menu option indicates the current visibility status of the element. When eye is closed, Traditional topic panel hides the element. Selecting the view menu option again toggles the visibility of the element. Selecting View > View all sets all panel elements visible. Selecting View > Hide all hides all panel elements except base name and subject locator. Base name and subject locator fields can not be hidden.

Traditional topic panel can build a simple preview for certain subject locator types. At the moment Wandora resolves subject locator's type using URI's file suffix. For example, if subject locator ends with a file suffix jpg, the URI resolves an JPG image and Wandora views a thumbnail of the image above subject locator field. As thumbnail creation doesn't cover all content types and thumbnail creation requires some extra computing, the thumbnail feature is disabled by default. To enable thumbnail creation choose menu option View > View subject locators.

Many UI elements of the Traditional topic panel feature a context menu. Context menus are used to edit the current topic in panel. Context menu is opened right mouse clicking the UI element. Next image views most important pop-up menus of the Traditional topic panel. Blue arrows point the UI elements which the menu originates.
