The Mashape extractor found in File > Extract > Other > Mashape extractor enables extraction of data using the Mashape API service. Using 3rd party APIs through Mashape requires registering for an API key. Currently the extractor supports extracting data using the Lambda Face and DuckDuckGo Zero-click Info APIs.

The Lambda Face API

The Face API provides rudimentary facial recognition for publicly available image data. For example a subject locator or identifier may be used to specify a image available for the extractor which then supplements the existing iamge topic with facial data from the image. For example the extractor is well suited for use with topics extracted using the Flickr extractors.

Example

Mashape 1.png

  • First extract the picture topics using the Flickr extractor and select the image topics in Wandora.

Mashape 2 2.png

  • Then open the Lambda extractor and select the context subject locators as URLs to extract.

Mashape 3.png

  • Fill in the Mashape API key.

Mashape 4.png

  • The extracted Face API content is then shown in Wandora where a face has been recognized in one of the three photos.

The DuckDuckGo Zero-click Info API

The Zero-click Info API provides summarized info on simple search queries. The returned summary and related topics are then added to the current Topic Map.

Example

Mashape 5 2.png

  • Fill in a simple search term.

Mashape 3.png

  • Fill in the Mashape API key.
