Wandora

Wandora is a general purpose information extraction, aggregation, management, and publishing application based on Topic Maps and Java. Wandora has graphical user interface, layered presentation of knowledge, several data storage options, huge collection of data extraction, import and export options, embedded server, and open plug-in architecture. Wandora is a FOSS application with GNU GPL license. Wandora is well suited for constructing information mashups and is capable of extracting and converting a wide range of open data feeds to Topic Map formats (see image below). Beyond Topic Maps conversion this feature allows Wandora user to aggregate multidimensional information mashups where information from Flickr interleaves with information from GeoNames and YouTube, for example. Wandora's embedded HTTP server enables easy mashup publication. Addition to a HTML page service, Wandora features server modules for several other visualization and data formats. Also, Wandora user can easily set up a web service and publish Wandora content with CMSs such as Drupal and Joomla. Read more at documentation. To contribute Topic Maps community, Wandora Team has converted several well known ontologies to Topic Maps format. These converted ontologies; WordNet, OpenCyc, Gene Ontology, Gellish, and Finnish General Upper Ontology (YSO) are available at Topic Map Library. Download updated plugin here. Notice also that the plugin in Wandora application distribution packages has NOT been updated yet. 2011-12-21: Season's greetings from all of us at Wandora Team! 2011-12-07: Wandora software packages have been updated to fix a bug in Wandora's file dialog. Wandora team would like to apologize the trouble and thank all bug reports! At least some people are really using the software. As this was quite a rapid fix, we didn't remove features under development and the release adds some new features to Wandora. These features are XTM topic map service module, JTM topic map service module, GRAPHML service module, RDF service module, and Screencast service module. Also, user can now upload and download resource data occurrences to/from Pastebin online clipboard service. 2011-11-30: New Wandora version released today! See Change log. New features include Processing topic panel, R topic panel, Treemap topic panel, Twitter extractor and Oma kaupunki extractor. 2011-11-03: Next Wandora application version will be released Wednesday 30th of November.
